What Cartiq does
You give us a store’s domain. We request a small number of that store’s public pages, parse what we find, and return a score out of 100 describing how readable the store is to AI shopping assistants. It is free and needs no account.
What the score is not
The score measures whether the data an assistant needs is present and machine-readable on the pages we could reach, at the moment we looked. That is all it measures.
- It is not a prediction of whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google or any other assistant will recommend a store. We never ask them, and we have no way to.
- It is not a statement about a store’s products, service, security or legitimacy.
- It is not comparable across versions of our scoring rules. When the rules change we change the version number and rescan.
- It can be wrong. We publish exactly what each check awards points for so a score can be disputed against the rule rather than taken on trust. If you find a mistake, tell us — we have fixed several that way.
Scanning stores you do not own
You may scan any public store. A scan reads only what the store already publishes to anyone, the same pages a search engine reads, and we honour robots.txt for everything we request. We identify ourselves in our user agent and never try to get round a block — the crawler page explains how to stop us.
If you run a store and want its results removed from this site, email hello@cartiqhq.com and we will.
Fair use
There are limits, and they exist to protect the stores we scan rather than to ration you: 5 scans an hour per visitor, and 500 across the whole site per day. Please do not try to work around them, script the site, or use it to send repeated traffic at somebody else’s server. We may block requests that do.
No warranty
Cartiq is provided as it is, with no guarantee of availability, accuracy or fitness for any particular purpose. Decisions you make from a score are yours. We are not liable for losses arising from using the site or relying on its output.
Our own content
The scores, the methodology and the site are ours. You are welcome to quote or screenshot a score — including in a pitch — as long as it is clear it came from Cartiq and you do not alter the number. Scraping the site wholesale is not welcome; if you want the data, ask.
Changes, and getting in touch
If these terms change we update the date at the top. Questions, corrections and complaints all go to hello@cartiqhq.com.
